Job description: Lab assistant in an experimental breeding facility of fish (three-spined stickleback). Tasks include selection of breeding pairs, spawn supervision, larval management, production of live food, feeding and weaning, tank cleaning, and documentation. The project involves the breeding of fish progeny for a FWO project on the adaptation to mercury pollution in Flemish rivers.
Minimum qualifications: Applicants should have a strong passion for taking care of delicate young fish, with an attitude towards scientific excellence and dedicated care. Be willing to work on weekends and if needed to invest more time than required. Good communication skills. Living within 15 min of downtown Leuven. Biology or applied biology student.
Desired qualifications: Proven skills of fish care; we are looking for a student with ‘blue fingers’.
