Representation
BIOS represents the students of the bachelor's in biology, and the Dutch-speaking and English-speaking master's in biology at KU Leuven.

The biology student is represented at different levels by our student representatives [jumps to education representatives].

The permanent education committee (POC) oversees the program and subject-specific matters such as objectives, exam formats, amount of study material, and tasks of the program. You can find the members of the POC biology/biology here. Would you like a specific topic to be addressed at a POC or do you have a strong opinion on an education-related topic? Then definitely contact onderwijs@biosleuven.be or speak to your year coordinator or the education coordinator Elke Voeten.
The praeses sits on the departmental board (UPDATE: since the academic year '23-'24 this is no longer the case) and accompanies the education coordinator at the departmental councils. Decisions are made here regarding investments in infrastructure, personnel policy, and other financial topics.
At the faculty level, biology students are represented by the student representatives of OOR. This is the overarching Education Council of the Faculty of Sciences and is coordinated through Scientica, the collaboration between the science circles. The OOR meetings are attended by our year coordinators, but every science student is welcome to attend as well. You can find more information about the OOR meetings here.
At the university level, there are many bodies where KU Leuven students are represented by the Student Council (Stura). At the General Meetings of Stura, OOR defends the position of the science student.

BIOS also represents the biology student in other areas. Our praeses and/or vice-praeses (and sometimes other praesidium members) do this by making their voices heard at the General Meetings of LOKO.
Ombuds
The ombud for the bachelor's & bridging program in biology is Veerle Dickx. She is the first point of contact and confidant for all possible questions and problems. You can go to her for all useful information (e.g., about the exam regulations) but also for non-binding study advice. Even during the exam period, Veerle Dickx is available to help you.
